We Want More History! is a coordinated national weekend of place-based history programming taking place September 25–27, 2026.

Historians, educators, libraries, parks, museums, historic sites, classrooms, community organizations, and members of the public are invited to organize or participate in events that bring people together through history. Programs can include talks, teach-ins, film screenings, walking tours, family activities, community storytelling, pop-up history events, and more.

This informational webinar explains the goals of We Want More History! and offers practical guidance for getting involved. Presenters discuss how to:

• organize or host a history program
• participate as a speaker
• connect speakers with host organizations
• use the event-planning toolkit and promotional resources
• submit an event for the national calendar and map
• build partnerships with libraries, parks, museums, historic sites, and other community spaces

We Want More History! is open to individuals and organizations from every historical field. The initiative seeks to create a shared national moment demonstrating the public’s enthusiasm for history, historical thinking, and community engagement.
